Events, Comms & Brand Support at Gatehouse Chambers

Gatehouse Chambers | London, UK
Jan 2020 – Early 2021

As the most junior member of a high-performing marketing team, I supported over 150 legal events, managed internal comms, helped shape brand guidelines, and ensured consistency across platforms during the chambers' rebrand from Hardwicke to Gatehouse.

✨ Overview

I joined Gatehouse Chambers (formerly Hardwicke) in early 2020 on a maternity cover contract, which was extended due to my contribution across events, content, and comms. My time there coincided with a major rebrand, and I was part of a small team navigating change while maintaining structure, professionalism, and consistency in communications.

Though I was the most junior in the team, I was deeply involved in day-to-day delivery — from organising events and scheduling social posts to supporting the rollout of the new brand across internal systems and external channels.

💼 Key Contributions

Rebrand: Hardwicke → Gatehouse
Took part in rebrand discussions and agency selection meetings, where I was given a vote — a rare privilege that reflected the trust placed in me. I contributed to the creation of brand guidelines and supported implementation across web, communications, and event materials. I also helped ensure barristers and staff adhered to the new branding across decks, documents, and external content.

Event Coordination (150+ Legal Events)
Assisted with the delivery of over 150 legal events, including virtual webinars and in-person sessions, some attracting over 500 attendees, including Magic Circle firms. I handled event setup, Zoom logistics, scheduling, internal reminders, and follow-up tracking.

Internal & External Communications
Owned and distributed The Grapevine, the chambers’ weekly internal newsletter. I also supported external comms using LEX, including invitations, client updates, and branded bulletins.

Website Content (WordPress)
Managed content uploads and edits on the chambers’ WordPress website, including legal commentary, barrister news, and blog posts — always ensuring alignment with tone, formatting, and branding.

Social Media Scheduling
Used Buffer and Sendible to schedule content across Twitter and LinkedIn, promoting events and amplifying barrister commentary. Ensured all content followed brand voice and visual standards during and after the rebrand.

Team Collaboration
Supported and collaborated with clerks, barristers, marketing leads, and external creatives to ensure all comms — internal and external — were timely, on-brand, and professionally delivered.

🌐 Live Work

Note: Website content may have evolved since my time with the team.

📍 Takeaway

💡 Final Thought:
Supporting a rebrand, coordinating 150+ legal events, and contributing to branding enforcement as the most junior person on the team taught me how to deliver calmly, communicate clearly, and pay attention to detail — even when timelines were tight and expectations high.
